FANGIRL

Shayda Frost

High school freshman Nat Chapman is singer Cam James’ biggest fan, so she claims. She walks us through her day of bullies, family, friends and fandom - showing her audience not just what it’s like to be a girl - but more, what it is to be a fangirl.

I totally got this film. I was a total fangirl when I was a teenager, I needed a connection to something bigger. This was such an intimate look into a 14 year old soul. With a society so focused on celebrity and social media, I can not imagine being a fangirl right now. Like the director, I am both terrified and
fascinated by this obsession. This film makes you think about what all of this is doing to our kids. — Becky M (Festival Director)
